The Andalusia Bulldogs picked up their first win of the season on Saturday evening when they knocked off Class 7A Park Crossing 7-5 at LBWCC.

Andalusia junior Ethan Wilson spun a gem on the mound to help guide the Bulldogs to the win.

“Ethan pitched lights out,” Andalusia head coach Tyler Dent said. “It was as good of a game as he threw last year against UMS-Wright in the playoffs. He had that kind of stuff working on Saturday.”

Wilson had a no hitter going into the sixth inning before a two-out single gave Park Crossing their first hit of the game.

Andalusia got out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Wilson drove in Garrett Davis with on a fielder’s choice.

The Bulldogs added four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning off RBIs from Davis, Will Jones and Hogan Nichols.

“This was a big win for our program, especially after losing to a really good Providence team the way we did on Friday night,” Dent said. “On Friday night, I just didn’t feel like we played with any energy or focus. Saturday night was the best game that have played all year. We had a few defensive blunders late, but offensively we swung the bats well and executed on hit-and-run plays.”

The Bulldogs will travel to Brantley today with junior varsity set for 4:30 p.m.
