An Opp man is behind bars after he allegedly stabbed another person in the head with a “sword-like” weapon.
Opp Police Chief Mike McDonald said that his department responded around 12:07 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a stabbing on Lakeview Drive.
“Opp Police Department B-shift officers and investigators arrived on the scene and were told by the victim that a subject confronted him and that he and the subject were involved in a physical altercation,” he said. “During the altercation, the subject produced a sword-type weapon and struck the victim’s head causing a laceration to the victim’s forehead.”
McDonald said the suspect was identified as Marcus L. Goode, 20, of Opp.
He fled from the scene on foot, McDonald said.
“OPD officers and investigators searched the area and located the subject, hiding in an apartment located on Everett Drive,” he said. “Mr. Goode was taken into custody and charged with assault second degree and criminal trespass first degree.”
He was booked into the Covington County Jail.
