There was a steady rush of customers lined up all day for the grand opening of Simply Donuts on Thursday.

“We have been busy since we opened up at 5 a.m.,” Simply Donuts owner Jonny Moeun said. “There isn’t much left now because we have sold out of almost everything. The community has been very supportive.”

Moeun said that he and his family moved to Alabama from Boston to start the business.

“It is a family business for us,” Moeun said. “We wanted to start a small business and just started looking for opportunities. I found out that Alabama was the best state to start a small business. We then moved from Boston to Alabama.”

The business is something that Moeun said he hopes to continue to expand.

“Right now, we have been in the donut business for about a year and we have a couple of locations,” Moeun said. “My sister has store in Atmore and we are opening up another location in East Brewton in two weeks. We are looking to expand, and my brother in Boston wants to move down here and get in as well. It’s something we want to keep in the family.”

Simply Donuts offers a wide variety of donuts for those with a sweet tooth, and they also have four different types of kolaches, croissants and breakfast sandwiches.

Simply Donuts is open Monday-Friday from 5 a.m., until 5 p.m., and Sunday from 7 a.m., until 3 p.m.

The store is located at 1822A East Three Notch St.
