Everyone knows that when taking a cancer patient to and from treatment, transportation is key to ensuring they get the life-saving medicine.
Transportation is the current challenge for Brandy Matt, mother of Opp’s Lilly Matt, who is suffering from a brain tumor. Mom’s car is in need of repair.
WOPP station owner Robert Boothe has started a fund to help the Matts repair their vehicle.
Boothe said the family’s car will cost $2,000 to fix because it needs a new motor.
Boothe said he put up the first $100 to help repair the vehicle and asked that others help chip in.
“The family needs your help on daily expenses of travel to hospital and food, also there is an auto repair,” he said. “The labor is free from Lilly’s uncle and granddad. I was blessed in being one of Santa’s helpers at Christmas and now I never ask for myself, but am asking my business friends and church friends to join in a fundraiser.”
On Tuesday, Brandy Matt said that they were staying in Pensacola and continuing to watch a rash Lilly had developed and she was expected to have an MRI today.
“We want to thank everyone for all the prayers,” she said. “We are still unsure what the rash is though. We also want to thank everyone who made Christmas possible for our family.”
Boothe said donations may be dropped off at WOPP or CCB.
