A group of Bulldog moms who have worked to support the Andalusia High School team all season is inviting fans to a giant tailgate party at 4 p.m. this Fri., Nov. 25.
The Andalusia High School Bulldogs will take on the Handley Tigers in the AHSAA Class 4A semifinals at 7 Friday night.
“When the players come out of the [athletic] facility, we want them to see a big crowd,” Debbie Marcum, one of the moms, said. “There is no cost. We just want everybody to show up on the football practice field.
“If you want to bring a finger food, or contribute drinks, that’s great,” Marcum said. A tent will be set up on the practice field, and Mary Ashley Wise is decorating it. There also will be tables and chairs.
“We want people to come and hang out and be excited about the game,” she said.
The Bulldog Moms group includes football and band moms, and they’ve been busy all season.
“We clean the [athletic] facility each week, and make posters for them,” Marcum said. “When they go in, they see a new sign every Friday.”
They also have been busy developing spirit signs, and making posters and bows to help paint the town cardinal this week. Several worked with AHS cheerleaders to paint the windows of local businesses.
And as excited as they all are about the possibility of playing in Jordan-Hare stadium next week, they aren’t planning beyond Friday.
“It’s the whole mojo, jinxing kind of thing,” Marcum said. “They don’t want us to get ahead of the ballgame.”
