County OKs cable agreement

In its first acts after being sworn in for the new quadrennium Wednesday, Covington County Commissioners:

  • Approved a franchise agreement with Troy Cable that allows the company to erect transmission lines in the county. In the short-term, the company does not plan to offer services in the county.
  • Elected Joe Barton chairman pro-tem.
  • Established a meeting schedule of the second and fourth Tuesdays at 9 a.m.
  • Approved budget amendments for CATS and the Probate Office.
  • Authorized Sheriff Dennis Meeks to order four patrol vehicles and a van for the jail.
  • Authorized the county engineer to sell surplus equipment and lease motor graders.
