Couple celebrates 60th anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. George Richard “Buck” Morris celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Oct. 15, at Jackson’s Gap Baptist Church.
The diamond anniversary was hosted by their children, Rose Rico, Pam Patterson, Cathy Pitts, Hall Morris, Hamp Morris and Jessica Smith.
Buck grew up in Randolph County and attended Handley High School. He joined the Navy and fought in Korea. He also attended Troy State and played football for the Red Wave.
Martha Ann Moore grew up in Crenshaw County and attended Dozier High School. She was a cheerleader and played piano at Dozier Baptist.
The pair met at Troy, where she was a music major. They married at Dozier Baptist.
The celebration included a trip down memory lane to their wedding day, complete with photos, Martha’s hat, Buck’s cuff links and collar pins. Excerpts from The Luverne Journal and The Andalusia Star were also shared.
