The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs gave it their all, but fell 3-0 to the Madison Academy Lady Mustangs Wednesday afternoon in the opening round of the state tournament in Birmingham.

MADISON ACADEMY 25, ANDLAUSIA 14
In the opening set, the Lady Mustangs took an early lead and fought off the Lady Bulldogs for a 25-14 victory.
Madison Academy came firing out of the gate and quickly built a 7-0 lead.
Haley Ballard came through with a kill for the Lady Bulldogs to make the score 9-2.
Rachel Dayton tipped a ball over into empty space, but the Lady Bulldogs still trailed 17-5.
A couple of Lady Mustang serving errors helped get the Lady Bulldogs a few extra points in the match.

MADISON ACADEMY 25, ANDALUSIA 8
Madison Academy came out strong again in the second set and held off the Lady Bulldogs for a 25-8 win.
Tori English broke a Madison Academy scoring streak with a big kill to cut the Lady Mustangs’ lead to 14-3.
Anna Brady followed with a strong serve and point for the Lady Bulldogs, but Madison Academy never let up on the way to a 25-8 win.

MADISON ACADEMY 25, ANDALUSIA 16
The Lady Bulldogs grabbed a lead to start the third set, but Madison Academy was able to rally for a 25-16 win.
Dayton got the Lady Bulldogs on top with a kill to start the match.
The lead didn’t last long as Madison Academy rallied for three-straight points to take the lead.
Ballard tacked on another kill to make the score 3-2.
After another scoring streak from the Lady Mustangs, Ballard added another kill to cut the Madison Academy lead down to 9-5.
Mary Kathrine Salter came up with a kill down the line, but Andalusia was trailing 16-8.
English added another kill and a block, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Lady Mustangs.
“Madison Academy is a great team,” Andalusia head coach Angie Grimes said. “The way the hit the ball there wasn’t much we could do with it. I thought our girls played pretty well, but there were some mistakes. I really think we played them about as well as we could have. I’m proud of these girls for the season they have had and now some of these young girls have some experience playing at state.”
