Tigers want strong finish

The Red Level Tigers (3-5) are looking to finish the season strong as they host the Pleasant Home (4-4) for the final home game of the season.
Despite neither team having a chance at making the playoffs, Red Level head coach James Wise expects it to be an intense game.
“This is still a big game for both team,” Wise said. “First, it’s a big rivalry game and for us we need to win it for a chance to finish .500. At the beginning of the season, we had three goals. We wanted to have a winning season, make the playoffs and finish with more victories than last year. We can’t have a winning season or make the playoffs, but we still have a chance to accomplish one of our goals if we get to five wins.”
To get to five wins, Wise said the Tigers must start playing with a sense of urgency.
“Over the past three weeks we have gone through a the toughest part of our schedule,” Wise said. “I thought the we competed in two of those games, but we just didn’t show up against Brantley. The other games we played hard, but we never played with any kind of urgency. I want to see us start the game fast. Right now, they wait until I get in their grill at halftime, or when they get mad a think they are about to get embarrassed of they don’t start playing.”
Starting fast is something Wise said will be crucial to beating Pleasant Home.
“We have to come out with some urgency and finish what we start,” Wise said about the key to beating Pleasant Home. “I want to see us come out of the gate strong. We need to score early and often. We can’t give up 27 points to start the game like we did against McKenzie because we just don’t have the team to pull ourselves out of that kind of hole.”
During halftime of Friday’s game, Red Level will induct three members into the Red Level High School Hall of Fame.
Inductees include Dan Pitts, Johnny Sellers and Lloyd Rodgers.
Kickoff between the Tigers and the Eagles is 7 p.m., Friday at Crystal Spring Park in Red Level.
