The Opp Bobcats bounced back from their set back last week as they resumed region play against the Slocomb Red Tops in their first meeting since the 2014 playoffs, and topped the Red Tops 59-6.
After a slow start Opp scored on their second drive when quarterback Reggie Thompson hit Orlando Lacey for a 67-yard touchdown pass for an 8-0 lead.
The Bobcats scored at the end of the first on a Reggie Thompson 60 yard run for a 16-0 lead after one. Thompson scored again early in the second for a 24-0 lead.
Hennis Washington scored the Bobcats fourth touchdown of the half on a 2-yard run for a 32-0 lead.
With 45 second remaining until the half, Opp had the ball first and ten at their own three yard line following an interception.
Thompson then hit Tye Lindsey on a 97 yard strike that Lindsey caught in stride and scored for a 39-0 halftime lead.
Washington scored four minutes into the second half as Opp led 46-0. The Bobcats second string then went into the game and scored two more times.
Backup quarterback Ashton Patel ran in from 12 yard out with 30 seconds left in the third quarter for another Bobcat score and a 53-0 lead.
Slocomb’s lone touchdown came with ten minutes to go in the game as they cut the lead to 53-6.
Dacarmeyen Hines finished off the game with a score from two yards out.
After a bad snap on the PAT attempt the two-point pass attempt was no good and the Bobcats got the win 59-6.
Reggie Thompson led the Bobcats both on the ground and in the air with 127 yards rushing on 8 carries.
Thompson completed 7 of 12 passing for 189 yards and two touchdowns.
Tye Lindsey caught 4 passes for 103 yards and a touchdown.
Orlando Lacey also caught 3 passes for 85 yards and a score.
“I am really proud of how our team responded after last week” said Hill after the game. “It’s always nice to get a region win and seeing all three aspects of the game working. Now we have to build on that for next week”.
The Bobcats travel to Dothan next week to play Providence Christian.
