The Pleasant Home Eagles (2-3) will take on the spoiler role when they travel down to Florala on Friday night for the Wildcats’ homecoming game.
“We need to start fast and build off the momentum from last week,” Pleasant Home head coach Chris Mason said. “These will be two teams that are trying to find their identities. Our kids are excited about having the opportunity to get a two-game win streak for the first time in a long time.”
Florala comes into the game having lost their first four games of the season.
Last week, the Wildcats fell to McKenzie 53-0.
Through four games, Florala has been outscored by their opponents 213-21.
Pleasant Home comes into the game after rolling past McIntosh 62-32.
Mason said that starting strong would be a key for the Eagles.
“We have to get off to fast start,” Mason said. “In both of our wins, we have had to come from behind. We need to start fast and find a way to finish strong.”
The Eagles started the season with a victory before hitting a three-game slide, but got things going in the right direction with a win last Friday against McIntosh.
Through five games, Pleasant Home has been out scored by their opponents 195-136.
“They are a young team but the are very well coach,” Mason said. “We can’t come into the game taking them lightly. We aren’t going to doing any kind of trickery this week, we are going to get back to the basics and the fundamentals of the game. We have to get back to the basics and fix the problems that keep us from being successful.”
Last season Pleasant Home defeated the Wildcats 45-20.
“We can’t worry about last year’s game,” Mason said. “They are still going to be hungry to win. It’s going to be a dog fight. If we limit errors and start fast, I think that we have a chance to come back home with a two-game win streak.”
