Man arrested for drug trafficking at Westhaven Apartments

An Andalusia man was arrested for drug trafficking and a host of other drug charges at the Westhaven Apartments Tuesday.
Covington County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the apartment to serve a warrant.
When they arrived, they detected the odor of marijuana coming from the residence.
The 22nd Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force responded to assist deputies.
When the DTF agents arrived, they observed a black male carrying a white trashcan exit through a side window of the apartment.
The suspect attempted to elude agents and resisted arrest .
After arresting the suspect, it was discovered that the white trashcan contained more than 11 ounces of marijuana, and more than 15 ounces of synthetic marijuana, and multiple bags for packaging the illegal drugs.
After being searched, DTF agents said they sound more than $1,000 in the suspect’s pants pocket.
Kelvin Peacock was charged with attempting to elude police, resisting arrest, drug trafficking, possession of marijuana in the first degree and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He is being held in the Covington County Jail on a $595,000 bond.
