Just before 2 am. today, Mon, July 11, 2016,  the Andalusia Police Department received a call about gunshots being fired on South Cotton Street at the Andalusia Estates Apartment complex, according to an APD press release.

There were no injuries and only minor property damage. A shot had been fired into an apartment by an unknown man and in turn, one of the occupants fired a round back in self-defense.

The occupants left the scene before officers arrived. After searching the area, officers were not able to locate them or a perpetrator.

A BOLO (Be on the lookout) was issued for the occupant’s vehicle, which was later located in Opp by Opp Police officers. The two subjects, one male and one female, were detained and interviewed. The shooting was apparently the result of a domestic incident involving the female and another male, who is believed to be the perpetrator.

The identities of those involved are not being released at this time pending further investigation.

Chief Paul Hudson wishes to thank the Opp Police Department for their assistance in this incident.
