Hazel Griffin has announced her plans to seek reelection to District Three on the Andalusia City Council.
“Serving and representing the people of District Three on the Andalusia City Council has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life,” Griffin said. “It is an honor to serve and I am truly blessed to have an opportunity to improve the quality of life of our citizens.”
Griffin said she is pleased to have been a part of the many improvements made during the current administration.
“I am so proud of the many accomplishments we have made like the Apple After School and Summer Program at the Woodson Learning Center; the South Three Notch Street project set to begin later this summer, cAndyLand Christmas on the Square and Springdale; the downtown projects – Big Mike’s and Clark Theater; and the sidewalk project on Church Street, Snowden Drive and Prestwood Bridge Road.”
“I am extremely excited about our accomplishments with education in Andalusia,” she said. “We assisted Andalusia City Schools with new capital projects, the new junior high school at the Andalusia High School campus, and the new sixth grade building at Andalusia Elementary School. We’re working on a new technology program now that will be very exciting for our teachers and students and will continue to support the standard of excellence for education in Andalusia.
“Like Andalusia families and small businesses, we’ve tightened our belt and kept a close eye on expenses while profiding the services that our people need and expect,” she said. “We’ve built a substantial reserve and improved our credit rating which greatly reduces project costs.
“While we have achieve much, there is work left to be done,” Griffin said. “I am committed to completing the projects under way and to redoubling our efforts to grow our economy.”
Municipal elections are set for Tues., Aug. 23, 2016.
