Caitie’s Army is gearing up for its annual brain cancer research fundraiser.

Tee Terry, president of Caitie’s Army, said this week that though the big fundraiser is not until September, they have already put up buckets around town to collect soda tabs for the Ronald McDonald House.

“This helps pay the light bill,” she said.

Terry said the organization is also collecting home supplies for the RMH.

“Washing powder – anything you would need at home,” she said.

Terry said they are sending their boxes to the Ronald McDonald Houses in Mobile and Birmingham.

“Several companies are going to fix a box and label it for Birmingham and Mobile,” she said. “We are trying to stay in Alabama.”

She said that she will be happy to pick up the boxes.

For the big September fundraiser, she needs sponsors.

“The cost is $250 each and they will get their names on our shirts,” she said. “We need to know by July 20 who wants to be a sponsor.”

She also needs locals to donate baked good for the bake sale to be held on Sept. 24.

“My mother is heading that up and they can call her at 504-4097,” she said.

An antique car show will be held on the Square and at the Red Level VFW that day.

“We’ll need 20 on the square and as many as possible in Red Level,” she said.

Terry is also looking for vendors to sell their goods. The donation for a vendor spot is $10.

Instead of holding the event at the Kiwanis Center, Terry said the kids events will be held at the Court Square and the rest at the Red Level VFW.

“All the kids’ activities are on the Square,” she said. “We’ll have jumpy houses, a bake sale, a barbecue lunch and pizza.”

A blood drive will also be held there.

Meredith’s Miracles characters will be there for photos on the motorcycle around 12:30, she said.

In Red Level, there will be a bike fest rather than a poker run this year.

“It will be kid friendly,” she said. “We’ll have entertainment all day. So, I encourage everyone to bring their lawn chairs.”

Terry said she has some musicians lined up, but would love for more local musicians to donate their time.

All proceeds go to the Hope and Cope program at Children’s Hospital.
