T. Texas Tyler
T. Texas Tyler, or simply Tex, was a true character of Covington County. Recruited by the Andalusia Arrows post his Eglin Eagles career, he was known for his eccentric pitching methods. He was the last surviving Andalusia Arrow.
Tex served as a mortarman in the U. S. Marine Corps during WWII, at Iwo Jima.
He was a pioneer in the offshore oil drilling industry, a career which spanned more than 30 years and took him all over the world. He was instrumental in assisting many local men in finding work in this industry during the 60s, 70s, and 80s.
Tex loved to dance and could be seen at the local American Legion on most Saturday nights where he was a member in good standing for more than 60 years.
He truly will be missed.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Fri., July 1, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jay Hollowell officiating the service. Interment will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 – 8 p.m. Thursday at Foreman Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Tyler of Andalusia; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Barbara Tyler of Andalusia; daughter, Anita Prewitt of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Jessica (Casey) Kreis of Austin, Texas, Katie Tyler (Roger) Caffey of Dallas, Texas, and Michael Tyler of Andalusia; sister and brother-in-law, Laura May and Charlie Hudson of North Garden, Va.; step-children, Sherry Wright and Ricky Padgett, all of Andalusia; step-grandchildren, Emily (MJ) Faulkner, Kyle Padgett, Sheridan Wright, and Jamisyn Wright, all of Andalusia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will include Keith Veasey, Kelly Veasey, Michael Tyler, Kenny Owens, Andrew Veasey, and Matthew Mangham. Honorary pallbearers will include Joel Moore, Sammy Brown, David Williamson, CJ Tyler, and Charles Cope.

Chester O’Neal Padgett
Chester O’Neal “Peanut” Padgett, 74, of Evergreen, formerly of Andalusia, passed away Sun., June 26, 2016, in the Evergreen Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thurs., June 30, at Jones Chapel Baptist Church in Evergreen, with Brother David Leach and Brother George Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 -8 p.m. Wednesday at Foreman Funeral Home and at the church 30 minutes prior to services.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Kathryn Padgett of Evergreen; two sons, Jeffery O’Neal Padgett of Andalusia and Sheldon Jerome Padgett of Evergreen; a daughter, Jennifer “Jenny” Kay Kelley of Andalusia; four grandchildren, Jason Kelley, Kellie Renea Price, Cassandra Marie Padgett, Chassady and Marie Padgett; five great-grandchildren, John Padgett, Savannah Dees, Talon Henry, William Henry, and Bravery Dees; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Geraldine and Jerry Atchison and Janelle Windham of Andalusia.
