Rep. Mike Jones, R-Andalusia, was recognized with two awards during the Alabama Law Institute meeting held during the Alabama State Bar’s annual meeting.

Jones was recognized for his work with Sen. Gerald Allen on Act 2016-362 that creates the right for grandparents to seek visitation in limited circumstances.

He also was recognized with Sen. Rodger Smitherman for his work on Act 2016-306, which repealed the notion of common law marriage for those entered into on or after Jan. 1, 2017.
