The Three Notch Museum just got a face-lift.

Linda Castleberry of the museum said Thursday that Sherwin Williams made the building its project for May.

“Sherwin Williams does a community service project,” she said. “They had a meeting with the painters and asked who they wanted to do. Robert Williams said, ‘How about the museum?’”

Castleberry, who worked at Sherwin Williams for 20 years, said she got a phone call asking if they would be interested in having the Museum painted.

“I said, ‘yes,” she said. “I brought it before the Historical Society at a meeting and they all agreed.”

Castleberry said that it had been more than a decade since the museum got a fresh coat of paint.

“Two of the painters who helped said they painted it before,” she said. “I thought it looked good, but then when you first look at the new paint, it’s amazing.”

The project took two days to complete.

“The city loaned us their lift, and we didn’t have to set up scaffolding,” she said. “It was great of the city to help. Jared Cross came and ran it for us.”

Castleberry said she was so excited to start with.

“If I can get the rest of the trim, it will be done,” she said. “I’m not a ladder climber.”

Castleberry said there were even painters from Opp who came and helped with the project.

“They did a terrific job,” she said.

Castleberry said that Sherwin Williams used their top-of-the-line paint.

Castleberry said the Historical Society had not seriously discussed painting the building.

“You’re talking about $15,000 to do that with the painting and labor,” she said. “It’s just wonderful. We have a caboose and a boxcar in the back, and they pressure washed one side and will come back and do the other side.”

Additionally, Castleberry said a front porch was added to the log cabin.
