James C. Mallory

James C. Mallory of Red Level passed away on Sun., May 1, 2016, at Mizell Memorial Hospital. He was 89.

In keeping with his wishes, memorialization will be by cremation, and no services are scheduled at this time. He will be laid to rest beside his loving wife, Letha, at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Hester Store Road, Red Level.

Mr. Mallory was born March 12, 1927, in Rose Hill, to the late Charlie R. and Lura C. Cauley Mallory. He served in the Navy aboard the USS O’Brien and the USS St. Paul during WWII in the Pacific during the bombing of Hiroshima, Japan, becoming over the years 100 percent disabled. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #312 in Niceville, Fla., for 49 years, as well as a member of Pipeliners Local Union 798 in Tulsa, Okla., for 64 years.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Letha Davidson Mallory, who went to be with the Lord Sept. 6, 2004. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Until 1991, they traveled with the natural gas pipeline, and in their spare time, they loved to hunt, fish, and garden. They were very active in their church and enjoyed hosting family reunions. They loved their pets, and Jim is missed by 13 cats and a dog who survive him. He was a devoted husband, father, and provider.

Survivors include one daughter, Rhonda Gayle Mallory; a granddaughter, Natasha Culpepper Cole; a grandson, James Olin Culpepper, a great-grandson, Richard Olin Culpepper.

He is now reunited with Letha on their final journey together in God’s Kingdom.

Albert Marshall Bentley

Mr. Albert Marshall Bentley, 73, of Andalusia, passed away Fri., April 29, 2016 in the Andalusia Hospital.

Marshall was born Sept. 20, 1942, to Edward Robert and Pauline Logan Bentley. He owned and operated Bentley’s VW Repair and Bentley’s Used Cars for many years until his retirement. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Andalusia.

A private family graveside service was Monday at Greenwood Cemetery in Florala with Dr. Jason Thrower officiating and Foreman Funeral Home directing. Visitation was Sunday at Foreman Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Hollingsworth Bentley; a son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Christian Bentley of Andalusia; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan B. and Macon Chandler all of Andalusia; three grandchildren, Asher Bentley, Grayson Bentley, and Bentley Chandler; a brother-in-law, Jerry Sayers of Birmingham; and two nieces, Suzanne Woller and Sherry Norwood.

Royce E. Aughtman, Sr.

Mr. Royce E. Aughtman, Sr., 68, of Andalusia, passed away Fri., April 29, 2016, in the Andalusia Hospital.

Funeral services were held Mon., May 2, 2016, at Foreman Funeral Home with Brother Robert Canant officiating. Visitation was Monday at Foreman Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Adams family cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Aughtman of Andalusia; sons and daughters-in-law, Royce E. Aughtman Jr. (Robin) of Chesapeake, Va., Franklin Scott Aughtman (Amy) of Hinesville, Ga., Daniel Leigh Aughtman (Tracy) of Ludowici, Ga.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby Aughtman of Mobile, Truman Aughtman (Betty) of Mobile, and Larry Aughtman (Carolyn) of Chesapeake, Va.; a sister JoAnn Grissett of Andalusia; and 10 grandchildren.

 

Mary Elizabeth Odom

Mrs. Mary Coursey Odom, 71, of Andalusia, passed away Fri., April 29, 2016, at her residence.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wed., May 4, at the Adellum Baptist Church with Brother Durwood Cleland officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 – 8 p.m. Tuesday at Foreman Funeral Home and at the church 30 minutes prior to services.

She is survived by her sons, Keith Odom and Kenneth Odom; a brother, Raymond Coursey; one sister and brother-in-law, Sara and Terry Archie; grandchildren, Justin Odom, Brittany Boyette, Penny Odom, Robert Odom, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
