Kids across town have the opportunity this month to have their artwork displayed publicly and earn some money in the process. Andalusia Junior Woman’s Club and PowerSouth are sponsoring the “All Through the Town” Youth Art Contest for students of Andalusia schools.

Any students who want to enter should submit an 8×11 art piece on card stock or heavy paper depicting a landmark or historical building in the city of Andalusia. Students can draw or paint their pictures and can turn the projects into their art teachers or bringing it to the Andalusia Star-News by April 22.

Roger Powell’s art is being used to promote this year’s Three Notch Market. Student entries should be of local landmarks.

One entry per student.

Students should write full name, phone number, school, and grade on the upper left hand corner of the back of the project, and be sure not to sign the front.

All of the art entries will be on display at the Three Notch Market inside the Farmer’s Market on April 30.

“We thought this would be a great way to get children and teens involved in 3 Notch Market,” Jill Prevett of the Andalusia Junior Woman’s Club said. “We think it will give kids a way to show their artistic talents while highlighting the landmarks around town that we are most proud,” she said.

The prizes will be given out in four different age groups with first place winners receive $50, second place winners receive $25 and third place winners receive $15. The age groups will be kindergarten-second grade, third grade-fifth grade, sixth grade-eighth grade and ninth grade to twelfth grade.
