An Elba man was arrested this week after he was stopped for driving without a license plate.

According to Opp Police Chief Mike McDonald, officers stopped a red 1986 Toyota pickup truck on West Stewart Avenue.

The vehicle operator was identified at Catlien James Sewell Johnson, 26.

McDonald said Johnson pulled his truck into a residential driveway in the 100 block of West Stewart Avenue and fled from the truck on foot.

“The officer took Mr. Johnson into custody on Foster Street,” McDonald said.

As a result of the subsequent investigation, Johnson was charged with possession of marijuana second degree and attempting to flee/elude a police officer.

He was also cited for a driver’s license violation.

He was remanded to the Opp City Jail.
