Lady Eagles soar to tourney title

The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles were perfect over the weekend, sweeping their way to a championship in the Pleasant Home Lady Eagles softball tournament .
PLEASANT HOME 11, MCKENZIE 0
In the opening game for the Lady Eagles on Saturday morning, Pleasant Home blistered past McKenzie for an 11-0 victory.
Anna Bulger had a big game at the plate going 1-for-3 with three RBIs.
Camille Holley didn’t collect a hit in the contest, but did drive in a pair of runs to help lift the Lady Eagles to victory.
In the pitching circle, Tiffany Knoll picked up the win for the Lady Eagles with four innings pitched, giving up just two hits and striking out five batters along the way.
PLEASANT HOME 7, ANDALUSIA 2
In the second game of the day, Pleasant Home earned a spot in the championship game with a 7-2 win over the Andalusia Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Bulldogs got the scoring started off in the top of the second inning.
With two outs, Sydney Ray doubled to center and Mary Katherine Salter followed with a single to move Ray over to third.
Olivia Amerson then raked single to center to score Ray for a 1-0 Andalusia lead.
The lead didn’t last long as Cassidy Godwin mashed a solo shot to center to tie the game 1-1 to open the bottom of the second.
In the bottom the fourth, the Lady Eagles added four more runs to take a 7-2 win.
Godwin led the way for the Lady Eagles going 2-for-3 with a home run and an RBI.
PLEASANT HOME 11, KINSTON 3
The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles blew past Kinston in the championship game with an 11-3 victory.
After falling behind 2-1 in the top of the third, the Lady Eagles tacked on five runs in the bottom of the third to take a 6-2 lead.
Godwin cleared the bases with a three RBI triple and Amy Bulger followed with a triple that easily plated Godwin.
Godwin led the way for the Lady Eagles going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored.
Amy Bulger finished the game 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
Taylor McGhee picked up the win in the pitcher’s circle with seven innings pitched, seven hits allowed and three strikeouts.
