Costumed youngsters to receive favors
at performances of Sleeping Beauty
This past week, Andalusia Ballet celebrated Princess Day at the Ballet with the 2-, 3- and 4-year-old Creative Movement classes. As part of their Princess Day celebrations, the young dancers dressed up as their favorite fairy tale princess and danced with Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty to music from the ballet.
The classic fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty centers around a princess who falls into a deep sleep before being awoken by a handsome prince. Andalusia Ballet is helping make that fantasy come to life for special princes and princesses.
For all of the performances of Sleeping Beauty, any boy or girl who attends dressed in a costume will receive a free sparkling tiara or crown
The fun doesn’t stop there! Following every performance of Sleeping Beauty, children will have the opportunity to have their pictures taken with Princess Aurora and many of the other characters who will be performing in the ballet, such as The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood.
“We really hope that the children who come in their costumes to see Sleeping Beauty will feel like they are a part of story,” said Meryane Murphy, artistic director of Andalusia Ballet. “We want them to feel that they are guests at Princess Aurora’s birthday party and distinguished visitors to the royal wedding!”
Andalusia Ballet will premiere Sleeping Beauty on March 18 and 19 at 7:30 p.m. and March 20 at 2:30 p.m. at LBWCC’s Dixon Center for the Performing Arts. General admission tickets are $15 and are available at Andalusia Ballet, the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce and online at www.andalusiaballet.com.
