Lady Eagles pick up big wins

The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles picked up a pair of big wins Friday night in the opening round of the Pleasant Home Lady Eagles’ Softball Tournament in Pleasant Home.
PLEASANT HOME 20, RED LEVEL 2
The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles finished off the night with a big 20-2 victory over Red Level.
It was all Pleasant Home from the word go, as the Lady Eagles put up 10 runs in the first and the second inning.
Sissy Martin paced the Lady Eagles going 2-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored.
Amy Bulger went 2-for-2, including a RBI triple for the Lady Eagles
Taylor McGhee picked up the win on the mound and struck out six batters in three innings of work.
Meredith Nall drove in one run for the Lady Tigers.
PLEASANT HOME 11, HIGHLAND HOME 1
Pleasant Home opened up strong in their first game of the tournament with an 11-1 victory over the Highland Home Lady Flying Squadron.
The Lady Eagles quickly jumped on top 5-0 in the bottom of the first inning.
In the bottom of the second inning, the Lady Eagles tacked on three more runs to go on top 8-0.
Cassidy Godwin had a big night for the Lady Eagles, driving in four runs in the Lady Eagles’ opening win.
Sissy Martin, Taylor McGhee, Bella Worley and Hope Gunter each drove in one run for the Lady Eagles.
HIGHLAND HOME 8, RED LEVEL 3
In the opening game of the evening, the Red Level Lady Tigers fought hard, but fell to Highland Home by a final of 8-3.
“We didn’t play too bad tonight,” Lady Tigers’ head coach Allen Catrett said. “This year we are really young, but we have some talent and if the stay patient and keep working, we will get there. Tonight, I thought we really hit the ball well. We’ve got to improve on defense, but that’s part of it.”
Marianne Vigor picked up two RBIs for the Lady Tigers and Tori Hall had one.
Ashlyn Joyner pitched well on the mound and finished the night with three strikeouts.
Tournament action will resume today at 8 a.m., with a single-elimination bracket.
All games today will be played at the Dwight Mikel Sport Complex at the Kiwanis facilities.
