The LBWCC Saints’ baseball team (6-8) fell 13-4 to the Northwest Florida State Raiders (19-3) Wednesday afternoon in Niceville, Fla.

Northwest Florida State jumped out front 1-0 at the end of one inning of play on Saints’ starting pitcher Jordan Taylor.

In the bottom of the second inning, Taylor gave up two more runs to put Northwest Florida State on top 3-0.

Northwest Florida State added one run in the third, two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to go up 7-0.

The Saints battled back with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning to cut the lead down to 7-2.

It wasn’t long before Northwest Florida State pushed the lead back up to seven with two runs in the bottom of the sixth.

The Saints showed once again that they weren’t going to go away easily by adding two runs in the top of the seventh inning.

However, Northwest Florida State tacked on four more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to lead them to a 13-4 victory.

Kyle Mosley led the way for the Saints going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Mosley also drew two walks in the game.

Gunner Hendrix and Mason Rogers each went 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Rogers currently leads the Saints and is third in the Alabama Community College Conference with 15 RBIs on the season.

Rogers also leads the Saints with two home runs on the season.

Rogers is also second on the team in steals with five, behind Michael Mims’s six stolen bases.

Taylor Fought has picked up eight RBIs on the young season and Hendrix has tacked on seven. Hendrix and Fought each have one home run on the season.

On the mound, the Saints have been led by Jake Bracewell, who has picked up two wins including a complete-game no-hitter over Central Alabama Community College in his last start.

Bracewell also has 17 strikeouts on the season.

The Saints will be back in action today when they travel to Cuthbert, Ga., to take on Andrew College for a double-header. Game one is set for noon and game two will begin around 2 p.m.

The Saints will begin conference play on March 10 when Wallace Community College-Selma comes to town for a double-header. The first game of that series is set for noon, with the second game starting around 2 p.m.
