The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles finished the regular season Friday night in Pleasant Home with a 65-49 victory over the Flomaton Lady Hurricanes. The win gave the Lady Eagles their 17th straight victory.
“It was good win,” Lady Eagles head coach Jerry Davis said. “It was a high tempo game for the most part, and we got a little pressure put on for this first time in awhile.”
It was a close ballgame through most of the first half, with the Lady Eagles holding a 14-13 lead at the end of the first period.
“I thought we started off a little slow, but we did a good job from about the middle of the second period on,” Davis said. “We are a pretty good offensive team when we settle down and play patient. We did that tonight about halfway through.”
The Lady Eagles picked up the pace midway through the second period and took a 36-26 lead into halftime.
In the third period, the Lady Eagles continued to pound the glass and secure offensive rebounds and at the end of the third the Lady Eagles held a 53-39 lead.
The Lady Hurricanes battled in the fourth period, but the Lady Eagles weren’t letting up.
River Baldwin led the Lady Eagles with 37 points, 13 rebounds and eight blocks.
Cassidy Godwin finished the game with 11 points.
“Cassidy does a great job handling the ball and she doesn’t get a lot of credit for that,” Davis said. “Overall, I was pleased with the effort and I think this game is going to get us ready for the area tournament next week.”
