Memolusia is this weekend

The AHS Memolusia Yearbook Staff will be presenting the annual Miss Memolusia Pageant on Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. in the AHS auditorium.

The theme is A Night in Paris and it will be a tribute to the disaster that took place in Paris back in November.

A total of 60 girls will be competing in this year’s pageant. The contestants are ranging from grades 7­12. Each of the winners from grades 9­12 will win a scholarship, thanks to the many donations: Miss Memolusia will win the $2,500 Stacy Jones Memorial Scholarship; the 1st Alternate will win $1,000 thanks to the John & Grace M Estep Foundation; the 2nd Alternate will win $500 thanks to the Jane Barnes family, and the 3rd Alternate will also win $500, thanks to Andalusia Distributing Company. Beauties from grades 9­11 will also win the $50 Karlyn Pugh Scholarship.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students.

Sara Mixson is the yearbook sponsor. Marissa McDermott is the pageant director and set designer.

Emcees include seniors Caroline Andrews, Belle Spurlin, and Charlie Brock, and sophomore Will Black.
