The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles put themselves in the driver’s seat in area play with a 43-15 thrashing of the Brantley Lady Bulldogs on Friday night in Pleasant Home.

“Beating Brantley has been a real chore over the past 10 years,” Pleasant Home head coach Jerry Davis said. “It’s always a great win when you can beat them.”

Pleasant Home came storming out in the opening period, with River Baldwin accounting for 10 points.

Anna Bulger tacked on 5 points in the opening period for the Lady Eagles, including a 3-pointer at the buzzer to put the Lady Eagles on top 15-0 at the end of the first.

Bulger got things started in the second period, but the Lady Eagles’ offense went silent until Baldwin got a put back off an offensive rebound.

Brantley surged slightly and only trailed 19-9 heading into halftime.

Baldwin quickly got things going in the third period with back-to-back buckets to put the Lady Eagles up 23-9 with 5:36 left in the third period.

The Lady Bulldogs weren’t giving up and knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers to trim the Lady Eagles’ lead to 25-15.

Pleasant Home responded with a jumper from Cassidy Godwin in key and then Camille Holley got a put back off an offensive rebound to give the Lady Eagles a 27-15 lead heading into the final period.

Baldwin dropped in a layup to start the fourth period.

Godwin followed with a layup off an assist from Baldwin.

Baldwin then accounted for another layup, and was fouled in the process. The free throw missed, but Holley grabbed the rebound as fouled.

Holley knocked down the front end of the 1-and-1, but missed the second. Baldwin went up, grabbed the rebound and put it back up in one motion to give the Lady Eagles a 39-15 lead.

Abby Walker then came up with a steal at halfcourt and took to the other end for a layup.

Madison Griffin capped off the scoring to give the Lady Eagles a 43-15 win.

Baldwin led the way for the Lady Eagles with 25 points and 16 rebounds.

Bulger finished the night with 7 points.

“It was a pretty physical game all night under the basket,” Davis said. “With the two big girls down low, it was very physical, and then we got one of their big girls in foul trouble. For us, I thought Anna Bulger and Cassidy Godwin both had good games.”
