Bulldogs in the driver’s seat

The Andalusia Bulldogs (8-5, 3-0) found themselves in first place of Class 4A, Area with a 52-38 victory over the Headland Rams Tuesday night in Andalusia.

With seven games left on the schedule, the Bulldogs will find themselves on the road for six of those games.

Tuesday’s win over Headland capped off the halfway point of area play, with the Bulldogs sitting at a perfect 3-0 against area opponents.

The win over Headland was also the largest area victory for the Bulldogs so far this season.

Andalusia will get back into area play on Jan. 15, when the Bulldogs travel to Ashford to take on the Yellow Jackets.

In their previous meeting, the Bulldogs held off the Yellow Jackets for a 49-43 win in Andalusia.

The Yellow Jackets are currently 2-1 in area play and 15-4 overall on the season.

Andalusia will remain in area play the following week with road game against Headland on Jan. 19.

The Rams are currently 8-10 overall on the season, but are 0-3 in area play.

Andalusia will wrap up area play against cross-county rival Straughn on Jan. 22 in Straughn.

The Bulldogs topped the Tigers in a prior match with a 37-34 victory in Andalusia.

Straughn is currently 5-8 overall and 1-2 in area play.

The final four games of the regular season will come against non-area opponents.

Andalusia will travel to Brantley on Jan. 26 and then to Opp on Jan. 29.

The Bulldogs return home for the final home game of the regular season on Feb. 2, against Carroll-Ozark.

Andalusia’s final game of the season will come with a road trip to take on the Elba Tigers on Feb. 5.
