Rodeo goes retro

Country music’s John Anderson, Sammy Kershaw and Aaron Tippin will headline Friday night’s concert at the April Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo.

The Opp City Council on Monday night approved the acts.

The city agreed to pay $20,000 for Anderson , and $15,000 each for Kershaw and Pippin.

Anderson is famous for “Swingin’,” “Black Sheep,” “Straight Tequila Night,” “Seminole Wind,” and “Money in the Bank.”

Additionally, he worked with John Rich of Big & Rich the album “Easy Money.” He co-wrote the 2009 single “Shuttin’ Detroit Down.”

Kershaw is famous for songs such as “Cadillac Style,” “Anywhere but Here,” “Haunted Heart,” “Queen of My Double-Wide Trailer,” “I Can’t Reach Her Anymore,” “National Working Woman’s Holiday,” and “Vidalia.”

Tippin is famous for “You’ve Got to Stand for Something,” “There Ain’t Nothin’ Wrong with the Radio,” “Kiss This,” “Working Man’s Ph.D,” and “Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagle Fly.”

The rodeo is set for April 1 and 2, 2016, at Channell-Lee Stadium.

In November, it was announced that Christian artist Chris Tomlin will headline Saturday night’s rodeo concert.

The concert will also feature Tim Timmons, Ellie Holcomb, and 3for3.
