An Andalusia teen was arrested after he allegedly threatened another student with a handgun on campus, but not during school hours earlier this week.
According to Andalusia Police Public Information Officer Allen Scofield, School Resource Officer Jackie Woods was notified by Andalusia High School administrators on Wednesday that the incident took place two days earlier.
Woods investigated the incident and 18-year-old Badarius Wilson of Andalusia was arrested and charged with possession of a deadly weapon on school grounds.
Wilson was released on a $50,000 bond.
“The safety of all students, faculty and visitors is paramount,” said APD chief Paul Hudson. “(I) would like to thank School Resource Officer Jackie Woods for his work on this case and Superintendent Ted Watson and Principal Dr. Daniel Shakespeare for their assistance in this investigation.”
Watson said he takes the safety of all students seriously.
If anyone threatens any student, they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, he said.
