With a win Friday night against the Kinston Bulldogs (3-4, 1-3), the Red Level Tigers (3-4, 2-2) can clinch a playoff spot for the first time since 2010.
With the top three Class 1A, Region 2 spots filled up, the Tigers and Bulldogs will battle for the fourth and playoff spot. With a win, the Tigers would wrap up the playoff spot regardless of what happens next week against Georgiana. However, if Red Level loses they would need to beat Georgiana next week and also have Kinston fall to Florala.
This will be the 17th time the two teams have clashed with Red Level holding an 11-5 all-time record, but Kinston pulled at an 8-6 win last season.
Last week, the Tigers picked up a big Class 1A, Region 2 win with a 28-20 victory over cross-county rival Pleasant Home. Kinston fell last week 42-8 to region top dog, Georgiana.
Red Level has been led this season by a fairly high-scoring offensive attack that has put up 181 points. John Lee, Wesley Holley, Jeffery Perdue and Dylan Jordan have been a big part of that offensive success, said Red Level head coach James Wise.
The Tigers potent offense will go up against a Kinston defense that has allowed 150 points this season.
On offense, Kinston has scored only 114 points, but faces a Red level defense that has given up 161 points.
Kickoff between the Tigers and the Bulldogs will be at 7 p.m., in Kinston.
