The Red Level Tigers (2-3) bounced back from their heartbreaking loss to Brantley a week ago with a dominating 45-0 win over JF Shields Panthers (0-4) in front of a jam-packed homecoming crowd.
The Tigers got the scoring started early as tailback John Lee scored on Red Level’s first play from scrimmage on a 50-yard touchdown run. On Shields’ very next play Red Level recovered a Panther fumble and a few plays later running back Wesley Holley scored on a one yard touchdown run to make the score 14-0.
On Red Level’s next drive quarterback Dylan Jordan threw his first of two touchdowns which was quickly followed on the Tigers’ next drive with yet another touchdown, this time to wide receiver Hunter Carpenter.
Red Level’s Jeffrey Perdue capped off the first half scoring with a three yard touchdown and Red Level ended the half leading 32-0.
In the second half, many of Red Level’s young players got a chance to play including sophomore quarterback Kenneth Cale who scored on his first and only drive of the night on a 40-yard touchdown run. Late in the fourth the Tigers capped off their big homecoming victory with another long touchdown run to finish off the Panthers 45-0.
Red Level’s defense was punishing all night long led by defensive end Ontaryo Nearor who recorded two sacks on the night. The Panthers did not gain a first down until the fourth quarter, and Red Level never punted the ball the entire night having scored on all but two drives in the game.
Red Level coach James Wise expressed his happiness about his team bouncing back from last week’s loss, but also emphasized the importance of getting focused for region foe McKenzie next week.
“I’m glad we won and my players, my sons as I call them, took care of business, and now we have to get back focused for McKenzie next week. That’s going to be a dog fight,” Wise said.
