Avid fishermen, your help is needed.

The Covington VIP Lions Club will hold its second annual Alabama Lions VIP fishing tournament on Sept. 27.

“This is a big day for visually impaired persons to come out and enjoy fishing with a volunteer sighted guide,” said organizer Dirk Price. “The VIP Lions are requesting your help.”

Price said fishing is an activity that blind people can learn to do well.

“The tournament draws them to the Extreme Experience Retreat, which challenges VIPs to build confidence with everyday life challenges,” he said. “You can be a sponsor to the Alabama Lions VIP fishing tournament and the Extreme Experience Retreat by making a donation or by helping to volunteer. Anything you can do to make these events more fulfilling will be greatly appreciated.”

Winners will receive trophies, prizes, and the opportunity to represent Alabama in the big Lions VIP national tournament in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
