Jamie Bowers hasn’t driven much at South Alabama Speedway in the last few years. He was back behind the wheel Saturday night, and was back in Bondy’s Enterprise Toyota/Scion Victory Lane after the 50-lap Street Stock Feature.
Billy Maxie turned the top time in qualifying, but Bowers grabbed the lead on the first lap. Bowers eased away from the field while Maxie and Johnny Otto battled for second. Otto finally made his way past Maxie on lap 37, but Bowers held a commanding lead. Otto sliced into Bowers’ lead and got to his bumper as laps ran out. Gary Davis got around Maxie with 10 laps to go to take third. Darrell Cawley came from the 10th starting spot to finish fifth.
Corbitt Mosley led flag to flag to win the Super Stock Feature. Mosley pulled away from Jeremy Burchfield to take the win. Bubba Winslow came from the 12th starting spot to gain the final podium position. Bryan Mosley was fourth with Jamie Ater fifth.
Charles Gardner retook the lead with five laps to go to take the win in the Roadrunner Feature.. Gardner led the first lap before Michael Hurst and Mike Wolfe got by on lap two. In turn four of the third lap, Hurst and Wolfe got together, bringing out the caution. Both were sent to the rear, giving the lead to Jason Kendrick. Kendrick led the next 17 laps before Gardner worked his way past to take the lead on lap 21. Gardner survived a restart with three laps to go to take the win. Jake Daniels took advantage of the restart, grabbing second away from Peters, who had moved into second one lap before the yellow. Daniels didn’t have anything for Gardner and followed him to the checkered flag. Kendrick also got past Peters to take third. Hurst rounded out the top five.
Joseph Chandler took the lead on lap two and went on to win the Coyote Feature. David Williams and Ralph Sanders took turns chasing Chandler, but neither could keep pace with the leader. Sanders came from the eleventh starting spot to cross the line second, ahead of Jonathan Johnson, David Williams, and Wesley Goleman. Sanders was disqualified in post race inspection, moving everybody up a spot. James Faulk moved into the top five.
Randy Henderson picked up the win in the Mini Sportsman class after Eli Bell’s apparent was not allowed by series officials. Aaron Wolfe led the first lap before Bell took over. Bell led the rest of the way to take the apparent win. Kaleb Howell was awarded second with Terry Brown third. Jared Howell and Keith Hutchinson finished fourth and fifth.
