The Pleasant Home Eagles (0-2) fought hard and never quit, but the McKenzie Tigers (3-0) prevailed 72-29 Friday night in McKenzie.

“It was a tough night,” Eagles’ head coach Chris Mason said. “They jumped ahead early, but we fought back in the second quarter.”

The Eagles finished the night with 199 yards passing and 224 yards rushing.

“Hunter Price blocked a punt that went out of the back of the end zone for a safety,” Mason said. “McKenzie’s skill guys can move.”

Reid Adams finished the night with 125 yards on 17 carries and one touchdown.

Also scoring for the Eagles was tight end Aaron Warthen who had 53 yards on two catches including a 9-yard touchdown from Garrett Barton.

Josh Ruth rushed for 33 yards and a score, and the Eagles’ other touchdown came when Brenden Douglas recovered a fumble in the end zone.

“Best of luck to Coach (Tony) Norris and his guys,” Mason said. “We are looking forward to a home game next week against Notasulga. We need to get back in the win column. Our kids play hard, and we will work to get better every week.”
