Covington County Schools officials want drivers to use caution when they’re out on the road come Monday morning as buses will be picking up and dropping off children on the first day of school.
Transportation supervisor Ricky Messick said drivers should never pass a bus when it stops or when the stop arm comes out. Buses also use flashing lights in the front and back when making stops.
“Buses will be making frequent stops so they don’t need to run up behind the bus and hit the back of it,” Messick said. “They just need to be careful of that and of kids going to the side of the road.”
Messick said 49 county school buses will be out on the roads starting Monday morning.
