Video Warehouse in Andalusia is closing its doors because of the way the movie rental industry is going.

Andalusia’s Video Warehouse isn’t the only rental store closing as all others in Alabama and Georgia are shutting their doors as well.

“All of the Video Warehouses are closing because of the way the movie industry is going,” Andalusia Store Manager Victoria Jarnagin said. “With all of this stuff that’s going on, he doesn’t make the money like he used to.”

Nowadays, the options to rent movies are plentiful. Red Boxes, which are located at Walmart, CVS Pharmacy, Winn-Dixie and the Kangaroo gas station in Andalusia, offer movie enthusiasts rental options at cheaper prices.

On the Internet, streaming services such as Netlix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video and other applications allow users to view movies on their game consoles, streaming devices, tablets or phones.

Jarnagin said the local movie store is still renting out movies while having a big blow out sale at the same time.

“We’re have a big sale right now,” she said. “All DVDs are $9.95 or three for $25, except for new releases, which are not for sale.”

All video games are $14.95 and up.

Jarnagin said the store doesn’t have an official closing date, but is expected to close within the next six to eight weeks, if not before.

Additionally, the tanning bed store next to Video Warehouse is closing, too, Jarnagin said.

“Everything must go,” she said. “Beds and shelves are available for purchase.”
