Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gantt Eiland

Jessica Lynn Smith and Joseph Gantt Eiland were united in holy matrimony on Sat., June 20, 2015, at First United Methodist Church in Andalusia. The Rev. Lance Eiland, cousin of the groom, officiated the five thirty ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Ms. Maria Mercedes Smith of Andalusia. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. Victor Gabriel Rodriguez and Mrs. Edilia Lugo Rodriguez of Venezuela.

She is a 2010 graduate of Andalusia High School and a 2014 graduate from the University of Alabama, where she received a bachelor of arts degree in public relations. She is currently employed with State Farm in Leeds, Ala.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Mason Eiland of Andalusia. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Harrell Forehand of Columbus, Ga., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Max Vernon Eiland of Andalusia.

He is a 2007 graduate of Albertville High School and a 2010 graduate of the University of Alabama. He is currently a student at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry and will graduate in 2017.

Miss Caroline Elizabeth Fredericks of Winters, Calif., college friend of the bride, assisted as maid of honor.

Cousin of the groom, Lora Raegan Eiland of Andalusia, and friends of the bride, Brittany Lea Fossett of Section, Kristen Maureen Calos of Birmingham, Chelsea Lauren Fenton of Mobile, and Kristen Nicole Finley of Andalusia served as bridesmaids.

The flower girl was Emma Raeburn Eiland, cousin of the groom. The ring bearer was Connor Ryan Eiland, cousin of the groom.

Mr. Nathan Robert Stroupe, friend of the groom, served as best man.

Groomsmen were Christopher Lee Smith of Andalusia, brother of the bride, and friends of the groom, Leland Grant Enzor, III of Andalusia, Dr. Adam Robert McKinney of Birmingham, Trent Carter Kuehnert of Albertville, and Micah Chase Zahorscak of Glencoe.

The ceremony featured special music by vocalist Mrs. Katie King and musician, Mr. John Austin Beasley. The scripture was read by the bride’s cousin, Ms. Sonia Ceciliano Bahnij.

Mrs. Dawn Thompson and Mrs. Nicole Jackson directed the wedding. Alan Cotton Florist decorated the church with light blue hydrangeas and white roses.

Following the wedding ceremony, a reception was held at Springdale Estates, which was decorated by Mr. Blake Barton. The reception featured a four tiered, chocolate cake with white buttercream icing adorned with light blue hydrangeas and white roses by Mrs. Tari McClung of Andalusia. Guests were entertained with music by DJ Kyle Lowry of Birmingham.

After a honeymoon in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, the couple is at home in Pelham.
