The Opp Council this week tabled bids from two contractors for two 30-foot tall billboards.

The council received a bid for a 12-foot by 25-foot structure that was 30 feet tall from Southeastern Outdoor in Gulf Breeze, Fla., for $33,500 each.

Southern Quality Construction out of Andalusia, which is owned by Don Cotton, bid $29,000 each.

Councilmembers said the bid did not include what the construction materials were on any of them, and they wanted to double-check that.

Plans are to construct them at a site near Custom Collars on the bypass and at the intersection of North Main Street and the bypass.

Plans are to use the signs to promote Opp events and the state park.
