LBWCC is looking for a host family for a foreign exchange student.
The community college will welcome Sinja of Usingen, Germany, through the Congress-Bundestag youth Exchange (CBYX) program. Her last name was withheld to protect the student before she arrives in Andalusia.
“We are very grateful for the community support shown with our first student, Julia Tyszka, who completes her one-year stay in Andalusia this summer,” said LBWCC President Dr. Herb Riedel. “Now as we prepare to welcome a second student through this remarkable exchange program, we again need to find a host family.”
CBYX is a highly-selective program through the German government with participants carefully screened and final selection made by the elected state representative of the participant, he said. Host families go through an approval process and receive a small monthly stipend to help defray expenses.
Sinja, 23, has been studying business administration and enjoys reading, dancing, shopping, movies, concerts and sporting events, Riedel said.
The exchange program gives Sinja an opportunity to live in America for one year while giving the host family benefits from cultural interaction.
Those interested in becoming a host family for Sinja need to call LBWCC at 334-222-6591 or email Riedel at hriedel@lbwcc.edu.
