KENNETH LEWIS ‘KENNY’ MOLLITOR

Kenneth Lewis “Kenny” Mollitor, 56, passed away on Sat., April 30, 2011, at a local hospital.

Kenny was born March 15, 1955, in Lansing, Mich., the son of Kenneth and Anna (Jessmore) Mollitor. He served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict and saw action in Thailand.

He worked for carnivals for most of his adult life until he passed through Andalusia in 1992. Here, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and met the love of his life, the former Lisa Kay Smithson. They were married for 18 years and have one child.

After Kenny arrived in Andalusia, he primarily performed landscaping work until he became his mother-in-law’s primary caregiver after she suffered a stroke at an early age.  When strangers met him, they often thought Janice was his mother rather than his wife’s by the way Kenny spoke about her and by his care for her. He always looked forward to warmer weather when he would be able to spend time riding his Harley with Lisa and caring for his beautiful flowers.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lisa Mollitor of Andalusia; three daughters, Miss Meri Kate Mollitor of Andalusia, Ms. Ashley Jenae Mollitor of Owosso, Mich., and Mrs. Amber (Henry) Bullough of Parkersburg, W. Vir.; two grandchildren, Autumn Paige Schultz and Dakota Lee Schultz of Owosso, Mich.; mother-in-law, Janice Phillips of Andalusia; uncle and aunt, the Rev. and Mrs. Edwin (Margaret) Patterson of Andalusia; and extended family in Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his mother and one sister.

A private memorial service will be held following cremation.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are preferred and may be sent to P. O. Box 1465, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459.

Davis Watkins Funeral Home of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
