County BOE makes personnel changes

The Covington County Board of Education met Tuesday to approve a multitude of personnel changes.
The board granted continuing status to the following certified personnel:
• Cindy Maria Pettie;
• Jennie Hill Howard;
• Lucretica Hawkins;
• Victoria Marie Adams;
• Astrid B. Evers;
• Samantha Kay Kodadek;
• William Grady Parker; and
• James R. Wryosdick
The board granted continuing status to the following non-certified personnel:
• Catrina Benita Arnold;
• Tracie Evon Potter;
• Sandra W. Bryant; and
• Patrick M. Oswald
The board hired the following personnel:
• Seth Ryan Richards as principal of Fleeta Junior High School;
• Valerie Brownlee as general science teacher at Fleeta Junior High School;
• Todd Wayne Smith as social science teacher and assistant football coach at Pleasant Home High School;
• James Joseph Wise III as social science teacher and head football coach at Red Level High School;
• Lisa Michelle Musso Lowe as elementary teacher at Straughn Elementary School;
• Courtney Dianne Johnson as elementary teacher at Straughn Elementary School;
• Caty Wilson as elementary school teacher at Straughn Elementary School;
• Wendy Gayle Godwin as early childhood teacher with Pre-K program at Straughn Elementary School;
• Kenneth Ray Bozeman as instructional aide at Straughn Elementary School;
• Shawna Knox Hall as instructional aide with Pre-K program at Straughn Elementary School;
• Jennifer Foley Lindsey as math teacher at Straughn Elementary School;
• Matthew Ryan Cobb as assistant principal at Straughn High School; and
• Jerry Wayne Mullins as bus driver at Straughn High School
The board approved the transfer of Jennifer LeRose Withrow from English language arts teacher at Red Level High School to English language arts teacher at Pleasant Home High School.
The board accepted resignations from the following:
• Shawna Knox Hall as custodian at Straughn Elementary School, and
• Deidra G. Bedsole as elementary teacher at Straughn Elementary School
In other business, the board:
• accepted a bid for a dishwasher at Straughn Middle School;
• granted permission for the Superintendent Shannon Driver to approve and submit to the ALSDE all required LEA plans to include, transportation, professional development, technology, special education, at-risk, career/technical educations and federal programs but not to exclude all other plans to meet the requirements to promote improved educational opportunities and provide better schools;
• approved for Driver to apply for any federal or state funds or grants, to make amendments and enter into contracts as needed for the 2015-2016 school year
• adopted revisions to the Covington County Schools Code of Conduct for the 2015-2016 school year; and
• approved voiding a petroleum products contract with Crew Distributing Co., of Opp (both parties assenting) and permission to rebid petroleum products.
