When Shea Worley’s son Matt Worley was run over by a car at Straughn High School last Friday, she had no car and no way to get to her son.

Members of the Straughn community saw to it that that wouldn’t be something she would have to worry about anymore when they presented her with a Ford Tauras following the graduation of her other son Gage on Thursday in Straughn.

“It’s such a blessing,” she said. “My car has been in the shop for three months, and there was no fixing it. My son told me the other day, ‘Momma don’t worry about the car, and just let God handle it.’ Then they surprised me with this. They are truly a blessing.”

Local community members who asked to remain anonymous said Shea has been an important member of the Straughn community, and even if her children aren’t playing, one can still find her in the stands cheering on the Tigers.

“We are blessed to have her in our community,” said one Straughn mom. “She always goes above and beyond for everyone, and this is just something small we wanted to do for her to show her how much she and her family are loved here. They have been through so much over the years, and they never complain and always give God the glory.”

At the age of 2, Gage was diagnosed with a form of liver cancer and was given only 18 months to live, but the strong fighter that he is he overcame the disease and graduated from Straughn on Thursday night.

The gifts continued to come for the Worley’s when Matt was released from the hospital in time to see his brother before graduation.
