Pleasant Home shutout Fruitdale 6-0 and Florala 16-0 in Friday night’s spring jamboree in Pleasant Home.

In the first game of the night, the Pleasant Home Eagles knocked off Fruitdale by a final score of 6-0.

 

After forcing the Pirates to a three-and-out on their first possession, the Eagles used a 16-play 64-yard drive for the game’s only points.

 

The Eagles converted two fourth down plays during the drive, before Robert Scott found the end zone from 8 yards out to give the Eagles the early lead.

 

Fruitdale looked like they might score on the next possession after getting the ball all the way to the 1-yard line, before the Eagles forced a fumble that was recovered by Rico Bavino.

 

The Eagles marched past midfield before having to give the ball back after getting in a fourth-and-seven situation.

 

On the first play of the drive for the Pirates, the Eagles forced and recovered another fumble and held on for the win.

 

“We made two good sustained drives,” Eagles’ head coach Chris Mason said. “That’s all I wanted out of this was to show a little growth.”

In the final game of the evening, the Eagles downed Florala 16-0.

 

Neither team could find the end zone on their opening drives, but on the Eagles second drive Garrett Barton connected with Scott for a 34-yard touchdown pass and catch. Following the successful two-point conversion the Eagles were up 8-0.

 

On the following drive, the Eagles defense forced and recovered another fumble.

 

The very next play Reid Adams took a handoff from Barton, and out ran the Wildcats’ defense for a 73-yard touchdown. The Eagles added another two-point conversion to go up 16-0.

 

“Very proud of these guys,” Mason said. “Our goal all spring has been to get stronger, and to compete. We’ve done that, but we still have a long way to go. Wins like this build confidence. I hope we can take this into the summer. This gets that taste in their mouth, and hopefully they will be hungry come June 16, when we start summer practice.”
