Covington County law enforcement officials are investigating the cause of a shooting that left an 18-year-old dead.

Chief Deputy David Anderson said Friday that deputies were dispatched to a residence at Country Cross Roads around 9:30 p.m., Thursday.

“When they arrived on scene, they discovered a male that was deceased, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound,” he said. “Investigators are working this death scene to determine the cause of the shooting.”

Anderson identified the victim as Christopher James Brito of Country Cross Roads in Florala.

Anderson said the other subject involved was Christopher Francis Brito, 57, who he identified as the father.

Florala Police and Florala EMS also assisted.
