Andalusia’s Josh Atkinson finished his first round with an 88 on Monday at the Class 4A state golf tournament in Mobile.

Through the first nine holes, Atkinson was 3-over, made birdie on No. 11, but a couple double bogeys late in the round on No. 14 and 16 gave him the 17-over finish at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.

Atkinson enters today’s second round tied for 22nd in the rankings.

He had eight pars, seven bogeys, two double bogeys and one birdie on the day.

Atkinson is set to tee off today at 11:48 a.m. for the second round.
