JOYCE WILLENE CAULEY

Mrs Joyce Willene Cauley (nee Godwin), 84, a former resident of Pensacola, Fla., died peacefully on Thurs., April 16, 2015, in the Highland Manor Nursing Home in Elko, Nev.

0424 JWC photoJoyce was born in Red Level on March 22, 1931, to Bascom and Losia Godwin. She had a happy childhood growing up with an older brother, Monroe, and a younger sister, Helen. She graduated high school in May 1949. Not long after graduating, she met and married David Cauley from Bay Minette, and became an active military wife moving to many different locations in the United States and overseas, including Mobile, San Antonio, Hawaii, Japan and England, while at the same time raising two young sons. She moved to Pensacola in 1969 and started a new career in insurance sales and gained a diploma in life insurance marketing. She worked for both Independent Life and Mutual Savings Life, where she was a hard working and popular member of staff. She continued to reside in Pensacola until 2007, when failing health necessitated a move to Nevada to be nearer family for help and support.

Joyce was a true southern lady — loving, selfless and fun to be around. She loved her family dearly and will be sorely missed by them as well as all of those who knew her and experienced her warmth and friendship.

The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff at the Highland Manor in Elko. Their professionalism and compassionate care of Joyce during the last few years of her life will always be remembered and appreciated.

Joyce is survived by her two sons, David D. Cauley of Elko, Nev., and Michael B. Cauley of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; as well as four grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A graveside committal service for Joyce will be held on Sun., April 26, at 3 p.m., at the Fairmount Baptist Church in Red Level with the Rev. John Bell officiating. All friends and family are respectfully invited to share in a final goodbye and celebration of her life.
