Longtime teachers retiring

Andalusia City Schools will say goodbye to teachers with more than 100 years of collective experience when the school year ends.
“They’ve done an excellent job for us,” Superintendent Ted Watson said of the retirees.
On Monday, the board accepted the resignations of:
• Tommy Wright, AJHS, physical education, retiring.
• Elizabeth Starr, AES, first grade, retiring.
• Frances Chambers, AES first grade, retiring.
• Jacquilyn Henderson, AES, first grade, retiring.
• Lori Griffin, AES kindergarten.
• Nicholas Seymore, AES, kindergarten.
• Robert Woodall, AHS, special ed paraprofessional.
The board also:
• hired Garrett Windham, AJHS physical education teacher and coach to replace Tommy Wright, effective Aug. 4. Windham currently is an aide at Straughn.
• approved an extended leave of absence for Candace Hudson, bus driver.
• approved a coaching supplement for Robert Jackson, assistant baseball coach.
• approved an overnight field trip for 80 AJHS Peer Helpers to Shocco Springs in Talladega.
• Accepted the low bid of $48,000 from Diversified General Contractors.
