Andalusia never quit scrapping, but lost 16-11 to Elba Tuesday in day two of Opp’s Butch Youman Memorial baseball tournament.

 

 

 

The Bulldogs’ first two batters grounded on the first two pitches of the game, but then a two-run home run by Devan McDuffie put the Bulldogs up 2-0 early.

 

 

 

Colton Elmore added a third run with a RBI single two batters later.

 

 

 

EHS added two runs in the bottom of the first with RBIs from Chase Moseley and John Cole Spencer.

 

 

 

In the bottom of the second, the Tigers tied the game up with an RBI double from Tanner Hudson.

 

 

 

Hudson scored off a single from Spicer to take a 4-3 lead.

 

 

 

Elmore tied the game up 4-4 in the top of the third with an RBI off a fielder’s choice.

 

 

 

It didn’t take long for the Tigers to retake the lead. Ty Stewart started the bottom of the third with a solo home run.

 

 

 

Quan Jordan and Spicer each plated a run with singles, and Hudson drove in two runs with a single to put the Tigers up 10-4.

 

 

 

Todd Wright drove in two runs with a single, and Chase Hopkins drove in one run in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to 10-7.

 

 

 

The Tigers broke the game wide open in the bottom of the fourth with six runs to give them a 16-7 lead.

 

 

 

AHS got a two more runs in the top of the fifth off the bat of Wright.

 

 

 

In the top of the seventh, the Bulldogs looked poised to start a rally after loading the bases up with just one out.

 

 

 

McDuffie drove in two runs on a double, but back-to-back strikeouts after the Bulldogs reloaded the bases, ended the game.

 

 

 

“You have to give Elba credit,” Bulldogs’ head coach Tyler Dent said. “They are a well coached team. They hit the ball well, and did a good job on defense. I really felt like for us that Peyton Garner did a great job. He has worked hard on his swing and his approach at the plate.”
